"We've set the right foundation. We are really clear on what our purpose is. We've reinforced our mission. Now it's about how do we … take the right bets, and make some bold swings?"Bijal Shah, CEO, Guild

Introduction

Welcome to the first Guild for Guilders Academy Program, which will be centered on how we can work together to win in our next era. Thank you for being here!

Before we start the Program, let’s acknowledge something important: learning together takes time, attention, and energy, and none of those are limitless resources. At Guild, we are all part of a company committed to the value of personal and professional growth. If we believe that’s good for our members and customers, then we also have to believe that it’s good for us. The way we see those benefits is through each of us participating thoughtfully.

After all, transformation is the result of group effort. The Academy team has seen that proven time and time again through work with clients like AB InBev, Coca-Cola, Citi, and others. Organizational learning can transcend the box-ticking exercise it often is, but it doesn’t happen by accident. Thanks in advance for your time and attention.

But before we dive into the Program in earnest, you might be wondering why now, and why this?

You already know the big picture: we are living through a massive, sustained moment of change. No country or company is immune. None of us, and certainly no organization with ambitions like ours, can insulate itself from the massive shifts going on. Our strategy is designed to help us find opportunities within this complexity and thrive, not simply survive.

At the same time, we are also facing a moment of introspection as a company. Our business context has changed, certainly, but so have we. To meet our potential, we face a pressing need to mature the organization as a multiproduct company—in a way that both honors our values and matches the scale of our opportunities.

If this all sounds a bit abstract or removed from the work you do, you’re probably not alone. If you’re quietly wondering what it really has to do with you, you’re in the right place, because it’s true: a strategy on a slide isn’t enough.

This Program is designed to make Guild's strategy feel real and relevant, something you can connect to, act on, and adapt with as our context changes. When strategy is just something that lives inside someone else’s head, we risk becoming drivers mindlessly following the voice of the GPS: following instructions without knowing the route. But if we’re only aware of the destination without any real understanding of how to get there (or why it matters), getting lost is almost inevitable.

That’s why this Program will be focusing on the “what” and the “how” of our strategy. What are the behaviors, mindsets, and ways of working that will bring this strategy to life? It is a blueprint for how we win in 2026 and beyond.

Key Questions Posed by this Field Manual:

  • Why are we doing this Academy Program together, and how can we get the most out of the experience?

  • What can we learn from people we don’t always work with, and how can we do it more often?

  • What are the strategic priorities and key results of our FY26 Strategy, and what are the mindset shifts and behavioral changes we need to make in order to execute on them?

  • What are the FY26 strategic themes, and how can they help us stay focused on what we need to do to achieve our goals this year?

We all have a version of the story we tell (or have been told) about how Guild has gotten to where we are today. In this video, CEO Bijal Shah shares her own. She reflects on how she’s seen Guild develop and grow and why she believes now is an important time for us to answer big questions—and make big bets—on where we go from here.

Poll: The FY26 Themes

In the video above, Bijal reflects on the last 18 months and previews some of the key themes for FY26. Now it’s your turn to weigh in with your perspective. Take a moment to think about the following questions. Click submit to see what your fellow learners think. Your individual responses will remain anonymous.

take bold swings for growth; be unapologetic about what you expect; streamline ownership and focus on results; excel where it counts

FY26 is going to be a year to remember. Which theme resonates the most for you?

Challenge: Who’s Who?

As we move through this Program, we’ll be learning in groups with people we might not typically work with or even know at all (yet). Briefly introduce yourself in the space below: who you are, where you are (geographically and in the organization), and what your word, phrase, or focus is for the year. Feel free to draw inspiration from anywhere: the above themes, the words our leadership team shared as we kicked off the year, or your own personal life (interests, reading, etc.). And if you were at the GGL 2025 keynote with Alison Fragale, feel free to use this as an opportunity to practice being a Likeable Badass.

This is also a great time to update your profile photo (instructions).

Share your introductions in 420 characters or fewer. After you post, be sure to vote and/or comment on your fellow learners’ responses. Remember, any up votes you receive and any conversations you start will contribute to your position on the Leaderboard. If you are one of the first people to post, you may need to come back in a few hours (or days!) in order to see what other people have added.

    • Hi team - somehow missed this tread initially, I'm Katie, Senior Learning + Performance Manager on the People Team
This year's theme is new challenges, as I get ready to take on new challenges in work and in my personal life, I'm embracing the unknown and leaning in with curiosity.
    • Hi everyone! Sai here. I'm based in Chicago and am a senior consultant on EPS.

My focus this year is on driving the outcomes that we set out at the beginning of the year. Whether that mean's were making the most of our EPs budgets, driving strong learner outcomes, or exploring new product offerings with EPs, I'm excited to see how our EPs grow as Guild grows.
    • I'm Sarah, VP of Employer Partner Services! I live in Brooklyn, NY with my husband, our toddler Hank, and our dog named Stevie Licks. We're also expecting a baby girl in the fall! My phrase for the year is "outcomes over activity" and I'm really aiming to make sure that everything I work on is clearly tied to an outcome or metric my team is driving.
    • Hi! I am Alex and I am on Data Consumption. I live in Denver, my 2 boys go to the Beehive. I want my word for the year to be CLEAN. It feels to me like the foundation for a bunch of things, getting more efficient, clean agreements, all that.

    • Hi! I'm Alaina and I work on the Enterprise Resolution team. I am Based in Saugerties NY. • Hi everyone! I'm Tay Jordan, Senior Engineer on the Auth Squad, and I live in the City Park neighborhood of Denver. My word for the year has been "creativity" and I'm leaning into learning new things and thinking outside the box when it comes to approaching my work life, as well as my home and fun life.

    • Hello! Scott Daniel here, Staff Engineer in Business Systems primarily focused on Salesforce. I live in Wheat Ridge near Denver.
I want to become an AI Badass during the coming year to help my team and others to best use AI tools at Guild to make separate systems become connected and seamless.
      • I love this! To become an AI Badass resonates deeply. I've began diver deeper into NotebookLM and Gemini and learning from my amazing teammates who have absolutely been crushing it when it comes to ways to integrate AI into their daily work.
    • Hi! I'm Jun-Ho, staff engineer on Academy. I'm based in London, UK - one of the handful from across the pond who came over with Nomadic.
I think my word would be "assimilate" - both understanding Guild's institutional knowledge and combining it with our learnings through Academy, and broadening knowledge as we look to new horizons.
    • I'm Alex. Sr. Content Marketing Manager, based in Berkeley CA, and focused on B2B awareness and consideration. I also support, strategize and write content for some of our sponsored events. My focus for this year is growth. Personally and professionally I'm trying to push myself out of my comfort zone and take on more stretch projects that can push me to expand my knowledge and experience.
    • Hi everyone! I'm Danielle, a senior manager focused on skilling as part of our Talent team. I'm based in Denver, with 3 little ones who can't exactly utilize the beehive (2 dogs and a hedgehog haha)

My theme for the year is "connection". I'm supporting a strategic initiative and a few skilling projects- and feel that dot connection and truly understanding the needs of Guilders and our business will be imperative.
    • Hi, I'm Pat, and I lead a segment of our Solution Consulting organization. I'm based out of Truckee, California, and and spend most of my non-Guild time pursuing outdoor mountain adventures. Those are always the most fun when my 6-year old daughter is with me! At Guild, my focus for this year is to scale both speed and precision in our sales pursuits.
      • Hi Patrick! Hiking with kids is the best (as long as there are enough snacks lol). I love your focus for this year. I work on the storytelling team at Guild and we're always thinking about speed and precision!
    • I'm Jordan and I lead the IT Services Team, comprised of our IT Service Desk Associates and Business Systems Analysts. I live in Littleton, Colorado, and I'm one of the Guilders who regularly work from the Denver office (come visit us! : ) )

My theme for the year is 'Focus'. I have a lot of priorities and it is essential for me to remain focused and use my time wisely.
    • I'm Katie. I'm a senior manager on the storytelling team, under Brand. I work on projects like the learner panel that you watched at GGL. I find impactful learner stories (along with my amazing team) for strategic moments on social, for GTM teams, EPS, events, and more. I love being so connected to Guild's why! I'm located just north of Denver. My theme for this year is to grow - do things that are uncomfortable.
    • Hi, Carly Saveraid on Employer Partner Services. I live in Denver (Berkeley to be exact!) and have a little one at the Beehive. My mantra for the year has been "simplify" - trying to focus on the most important things and do them really well.
    • Hi. Zach Rowe. Employer Partner Services. Denver. Two kids - youngest at the Beehive!

I'll go with "Clear." I think the results above show we've got some work to do on clarity - clear with our feedback and expectations of eachother. Clear with the results we're trying to drive, and who owns them. And clear with where we're focused - and where we're not.
    • I'm Mark Seifert - Director, Business Systems! I'm currently based south of Denver with my wife and 3 kids and we'll be relocating to the east coast in mid June!

My word for the year is "integration" - integration of existing knowledge/process into AI to expand horizons, integration of tooling/systems together to make jobs easier, alignment and integration of stakeholders across many departments for success.
    • Hi! I'm Mike, I work in Talent Acquisition and live in Mount Kisco, NY. Currently enjoying the spring and upgrading my outdoor living space.

My word of the year is "growth" - learning new skills, saying yes to more things, and getting comfortable with discomfort.
    • Hi there! I'm Gina, a Salesforce Administrator focused on our B2B instance, currently based in Kent, WA. I love gardening and spending time with my backyard crew: 1 husband, 1 brother, 12 chickens, 2 dogs, and a barn cat. My word for the year is “yes”—I'm letting go of what no longer serves me to make space for opportunities that inspire curiosity and joy.
      • Excellent to see here Gina! As we focus on changing some of the ways we work, I think this kind of attitude will serve us greatly as a team!
    • Hi! My name is Cristina, and I’m a Product Marketer. I live in Boulder, Colorado with my partner, two boys and a dog.

My focus for this year is to “focus”. Guild tends to uncover a lot of shiny objects—but I’m committed to ruthlessly prioritize the work where I believe my team and I can make the biggest impact on revenue.
      • Gina Rusan
      • Zachary Rowe
      • Katie Higgins
      • Libbey Davis Hunt
      • Love this! And this it aligns to the Guild theme around streamlining ownership. Guild can still do lots of things (and have multiple products) - but each owner of those things needs to be ruthlessly focused on owning the results of their focus.

Stories from the Field: Playing on Our Own Turf

    Audio

In this Program, we are dedicating time to looking inward. Being able to take time away from our day-to-day responsibilities is a privilege, but it’s not a luxury. It’s essential to understanding how we set the business (and ourselves) up for growth. But to understand the strategy requires understanding Guild. Chief of all: what are we really doing here, and how are we creating value? In this video, Rohan Chandran, Chief Product Officer, articulates the importance of staying focused on these questions and why he thinks it’s actually dangerous to think about the competition.

    Challenge: Bringing the Heat

What do you think about Rohan’s spicy take? Do you agree or disagree? How much do you think we should be thinking about and basing decisions on the competitive landscape? Do you have any personal hypotheses (spicy or otherwise) that relate to how we should think about ourselves or our strategy as we look toward winning in 2026?

Voices from the Field: Narrowing the Focus

        Audio

A strategy isn’t valuable unless all of us understand what it is and how we fit into it. We’ve worked hard to make sure that the FY26 Strategy is relevant and detailed enough to guide the work each of us do. In this video, Alana Brandes, Chief People Officer, highlights the reasons why our strategy looks the way it does this year and the clarity she believes it will bring.

        Framework : FY26 Strategic Priorities

        Audio

The purpose of our FY26 Strategy is to serve as a meaningful and relevant guide for the work that each of us do. To do that, it has to be detailed and specific enough so that we can all see how our work contributes to the mission-critical goals we all share. To that end, our strategy outlines key initiatives, objectives, and results that we will use to measure our progress.

Click through the following slide show for a reminder of the FY26 strategic priorities and the initiatives that ladder up to them.

          • I'm excited for Guild to take big swings. I think we've made some big bets in the last few years and with how fast our global product has been stood up, I can't wait to see how we continue to expand functionality of our products
          • I'm very excited about our strong focus on growth and the many ways we're pursuing that -- bringing on new partners, expanding the value we can add with our existing partners, and building out new things we can offer. If we can keep our foot on the gas across a range of growth vectors we'll be able to reinvigorate our position in the market and scale our impact tremendously!
          • The bets we're making on product and functionality to help us deliver more tailored career pathways for individuals.
          • I think I'm most excited about "Driving Growth" because Guild has reached a pivotal point where we're not just about adding logos anymore. I'd love to see Guild foster some form of internal market competition. It'd be great to have our partners strive to offer best-in-class benefits in comparison to our other partners. We can do that by committing to increasing EP health scores and proving our ability to facilitate these benefits efficiently.
          • I am torn between being most excited about our initiatives to expand our existing customers - because that allows us all to get creative to think about how we can solve MORE problems for our partners - and being thrilled about our investments to delight our customers and better serve them (e.g., through better budget management, better administration, etc.). Because at the end of the day if you can't serve them well it's much harder to grow the partnership.
          • I am excited to focus on member outcomes and really hone in on that as a differentiator. We have tried to get it a lot in the past, and being aligned on getting clean and clear on how to measure and communicate it feels so exciting
          • I (selfishly) love seeing the sharp focus on healthcare and applied learning - our growth and evolution in this space is critical to our ability to delight customers / drive excellent outcomes.
          • I am excited for the targeted and meaningful growth that is part of this year's strategy. Growing as a business, growing as an overall team, and growing as individuals in the way we work toward goals. It is also exciting that we wish to continue learning from our past as a company, taking the good forward and learning from previous struggles.
          • Excited for the clear strategy and direction!
          • I'm excited to have this strategy in general - it has already helped me so much in telling learner stories that ladder up to our key goals and priorities.
          • I'm excited for our focus on areas like healthcare and manufacturing - two categories where growth is essential not just for Guild but for the economy as a whole.
          • I am most excited for two parts of strategy, deliver best in class member outcomes efficiently, and accelerate Guild's AI transformation (which also positively impacts evolving and codifying our "ways of working". I see these as high level of "what" we should be focusing on, and "how" we are going to go about it. By staying on the jagged edge of those technologies we gain a better understanding of what AI skills are needed, and how they apply to different job and role responsibilities. It is also an example where strategic priorities are aligned.
          • I am most excited to see how Guild utilizes the ever-evolving capabilities of AI. I think there is much potential to re-center our focuses on big picture outcomes instead of tedious tasks that "check the box."
          • As part of the HC team, I'm very excited to see Local shaping up. This will be a major unlock for many of our clients!
          • I'm energized by the clear direction and consistent communication around our strategy. I'm especially looking forward to breaking down silos and strengthening cross-team partnerships as we work toward shared success.
            • I'm most excited about this as well! I feel like Guild has come a long way with strengthening our cross-team partnerships and am looking forward to how this will continue to improve over the year.
          • I have no way of knowing whether the strategy will make Guild materially better. I'll take their word for it.
          • I am excited for us to work so that departments across Guild can all have shared goals that align with one another.
          • It is great we’re turning a long-time ambition into action. This could unlock real outcomes for our learners and deepen trust with partners. We can focus on how we make our solutions both scalable and rooted in what schools and employers truly value. Our team helps stitch those pieces together so what we build doesn’t just work—it matters, has great value, and is continually improving with each iteration.
          • I'm hopeful this strategy will help break down silos across departments and align us all toward shared goals.
          • I liked Stafford's comment that if we achieve most or all of our priorities for this year, it will result in a materially better Guild. I'm excited to reflect on our progress a year from now and say "a year ago, this didn't exist". All of my work ladders up to SI4b (accelerate talent to accelerate Guild), and it's rewarding to know that if I execute on my work well, it will then enable a lot of Guilders to deliver on the rest of the other SIs — true teamwork!
          • Selfishly, I'm most excited by the Healthcare priority given how much of the org is needed to collaborate to drive success in that vertical.
          • I am excited about the new approach and focus on our strategic goals. It feels like we are acknowledging that we haven't done a great job of executing in the past, and I am hopeful that this renewed focus on what we are aiming to accomplish and how it will lead to better results.
          • As many have spoken to, I am excited about the clarity of the strategic goals AND the way they are forcing to break down silos. While work may be focused in a given area or department, the shared language and clarity of outcomes enables us to quickly make connections and surface work that matters.
          • I am most excited about the intentionality and accountability of Guild's strategy. By aligning strategic initiatives to greater company goals, I feel we have the right players and focus areas identified to hold us accountable to achieving our goals. I'm also very excited about the quantification of metrics within each strategic initiative and having clear guidance on what constitutes "good".
          • One aspect of Guild’s strategy that truly excites me is our sharpened focus on clarifying expectations around how we serve our learners. As a Bilingual Senior Growth Coach, I’ve seen firsthand that when learners know exactly what support is available, what outcomes we’re guiding them toward, and how to navigate their journey. This holistic approach transforms the learner experience from one that merely supports to one that truly delights and empowers.
          • I'm excited to see how going multi-product can drive growth by allowing us to tap into new parts of the market - but within those products I really want to see how we can delight customers and produce something that we can really stand behind.
          • I'm most excited about how clear this strategy is. In five years at Guild, it's never been easier than it is now for me to evaluate whether what I'm doing is or isn't in service of our pillars. This has helped me stay focused and know that what I'm doing matters.

For content teams, there's greater opportunity to work cross functionally and support velocity further down the funnel. We've already started doing this and the work feels so much more aligned. We have better headlights into what's missing, what's working, and what shifts can be most impactful.
          • I'm hype about Guild making an effort to more intentionally define our focus areas and what needs to be done cross-functionally to achieve our desired outcomes. The structure and alignment feels much more clear than in years past; and the prioritization will help reduce potential delays since all of us are anchoring towards shared goals. My role connects most to the "Accelerate Talent to Accelerate Guild" SI- so I'm deeply entrenched in that work. It will require increased collaboration across the People team, and deeper connections across the business.
          • We've nailed the right 4 pillars, which inform and guide how I think about approaching work and challenging norms. From a GTM POV, we are more nimble than ever and rapidly improving at articulating Guild's value prop. There is work to be done to simplify both our selling and execution processes, and with more product infrastructure on the way, we need to be vigilant about creating connective and streamlined processes that enable customers and operations to fluidly pivot across a range of solutions
          • I'm most excited about the clarity/focus of the strategy as a whole and how we want to drive growth for Guild. Seeing a broader alignment of priorities and resourcing for success is a great step in the right direction. It definitely requires a better/stronger/more committed balance of prioritization and focus. Finding ways to work in the wants and hitting that balance for individual/team growth and still ruthlessly prioritizing the must dos can be tricky, especially when some of those wants may have been passed over in previous years, but necessary.
